We would like to inform you that we are renaming the Project Rosling. The event “International Geneva: Can we beat the chimps with data and statistics?”, organised by the Swiss Confederation in cooperation with the World Health Organization on the 26 January 2023 was a success. We are honoured that we got such positive feedback from the participants to the Geneva event, but since the project was called Project Rosling, there was also confusion about who is behind this project. After the Geneva event, Ola Rosling was contacted by Gapminder users who believed that he was running the project. As you know, we were inspired by the work of the Roslings and the Gapminder Foundation. However, the project is led by the Swiss Confederation and its partners. In this regard, we decided to rename it “Unlocking the Power of Data Initiative”. We are keeping the main focus and the six workstreams unchanged. However, the workstream number 3 will be renamed “Data Management”. This allows us to broaden the discussion and to include Open Government Data, for instance.
We remain committed to go further in reaching our goals to expand the data and statistics dialogue and deepen knowledge.
