During 16th – 20th of July, 2023 the International Statistical Institute (ISI) will organize the 64th edition of ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC), the biggest congress on Statistics & Data Science worldwide.
The Swiss Federal Statistical Office, will participate to this congress, organizing three sessions and also with two Contributed Paper Sessions.
The three sessions, will be linked with different workstreams under the Unlocking the Power of Data Initiative.
In the first session “Data Stewardship – a new field of work for National Statistics Offices”, linked with the Data Management workstream, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO) will provide a short overview of the topic of Data Stewardship in the context of administrative and statistical data and will present its specific data stewardship model, which is going to be implemented in the Swiss administration.
The session, “Addressing Climate Change in Population Projections: new challenges for demography?” which will mark the launch of the Workstream on Population Projections and Climate Change, aims at bringing together experts from demography, climate and public health research to discuss the feasibility and relevance of climate-sensitive population scenarios.
While the third session “Reaching the general public: Data and Statistics for Dummies”, linked with Data Literacy workstream, will bring data producers to share their good practices in reaching out to the general public and data users, to share what is needed from their side and what is attractive to the public. All of them will present data visualizations examples that they produced or used to convey messages to the general public.
