Measuring and expanding progress on healthy diets from sustainable food systems: implications for achieving SDG2

A High-Level Side-Event to the UN High Level Political Forum 2024

This side event brings to the attention of policymakers at all levels the central role of high-quality diets and nutrition in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in particular SDG 2. Global diets represent a strong link between environmental sustainability and human health. We are approaching the 2025 review of achievements on important commitments prioritizing nutrition from the World Health Assembly (WHA) global nutrition targets and the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025). In this context, renewed ambitious goals need to be set to coordinate action on sustainable food systems and further strengthen collaboration between the health and agriculture sectors so that all people at all times and at all stages of life have access to affordable, diversified, safe and healthy diets.

Speakers:

  • Christian Frutiger, Ambassador, Assistant Director General and Head of Thematic Cooperation, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
