As we stated in our PARIS21 Spring Meeting, the time to achieve the SDGs is running out. As we pass the halfway mark, significant action and quality data are needed to ensure that we “leave no one behind”. We need to rethink the way we approach these challenges.
Data enables us to understand the world and support better decision-making. However, data is useless unless it can be read, interpreted, analyzed and used to drive action. That’s why it is also important to use data literacy to ensure that data and statistics are comparable in time and space.
This event will seek to raise awareness on the role and importance of SDGs and data plays in our modern lives by bringing them to the forefront of discussions.
The event will bring together ministries and agencies for administrative data, universities, civil society, representatives of the Albanian Parliament, UN agencies and other important donors.
Albanian government has affirmed its full commitment to 2030 Agenda. In order to synchronize vision 2030 with the implementation of the National Strategy for Development and Integration (NSDI) and to ensure synergy of the two processes, further efforts are required to integrate the SDGs into the NSDI (III), as well as the strategies of the respective sectors, national policies and plans. Switzerland’s experience with the implementation of SDGs and its role as a data steward will contribute to a better understanding of the entire process.
